No one is going to pretend that delivering and maintaining major infrastructure projects is as easy as A, B, C. However, passing judgement on the physical state of UK infrastructure is just that.

If you look at the latest ICE 'State of the Nation' report, which gives an overview of UK infrastructure, then up there at the start are the grades it uses to assess the condition of everything from energy to waste, whether it's an A (which means it is fit for the future) or an E (which is unfit for purpose).
